WOYWW 361 – Mother’s Day Projects

This week’s theme on the blog is the Derby, but since it’s Wednesday that means I need to take a picture of my desk and share on Julia’s Stamping Ground.  You will see I’ve been busy working on Mother’s Day cards.  And watercoloring calla lillies.  And making a ‘heard you’re moving’ card.  And making graduation cards.  I’m exhausted just talking about it.  But I digress.

Here is my messy desk.

I actually did clean up a little bit before I made more of a mess.  I made some Mother’s Day cards to sell at work and I am out of them.  I am still working on my spreadsheet of projects.  So many ideas – so little time.  Again – I digress.

Head over to Julia’s blog to see some awesome desks from all around the world.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Tune in tomorrow for my Creative Knockouts Design Team post.

Have a great day and enjoy the journey.

Psalm 8:  3 – 4  When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?

Run for the Roses

This week it is all about Derby and the Derby is the run for the roses.  It is also Mother’s Day on Sunday so I am combining these two events into one card.

Run for the Roses

Happy Mother’s Day

I started with an image from Power Poppy.  That Marcella makes the most incredible flower stamps.  They are just gorgeous.  This image is actually part of a bigger image.  I saw where someone had cut it down and wanted to try it.  Notice there are roses in the cup so it fits my theme.  I printed the digital image on Neenah Solar White cardstock with my Canon Pro Mark printer.  I haven’t had any images with the ink running – thank goodness.  I colored the image with Copic markers.  I matted it several times.  I stamped the Mother’s Day sentiment from Hero Arts and matted it as well.  The enamel dots are from my stash.

There are several people at work who have requested Mother’s Day cards – this is one that I am taking in.  I’ve done lots of flowers for Mother’s Day and now I am moving on to butterflies.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today.  Tune in tomorrow for WOYWW.

Have a great day and be inspired.

It’s Derby Week

Here in Kentucky we celebrate a holiday that a lot of the rest of the world is unaware of.  Until I moved to Kentucky, I didn’t even know what the Kentucky Derby was.  I was educated quickly.  So this week – It’s Derby Week and the theme this week is all about Derby.

Liz is starting us off with a card featuring what the Derby is all about – horses.

It's Derby Week

It’s Derby Week

This gorgeous horse is a stamp from Stampendous – Filly Sketch.  Liz stamped the horse in brown waterproof ink and then used watercolor markers in shades of gray to paint the horse.  He is beautiful.

Derby is about a famous horse race, but it is also about lots of other things – the Balloon Glow, the Chow Wagon, The Run for the Roses, the Lillies for the Fillies, the mini marathon, The Derby Parade, the Great Steamboat Race, Thunder Over Louisville and so many other activities.  Tune in tomorrow for some more Derby inspired projects.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today.

Penny Black Mouse in the City

This week is anything goes and I have a card using some cute Penny Black stamps to share.  It’s a Penny Black mouse running through the city streets.

Penny Black Mouse

Celebrate

This was a fun fast card that can be used for all different occasions.  First I stamped the mouse image from the Critter Fun stamp set.  I made a mask for the mouse and placed it over the mouse.  Then I colored the City Scape stamp with watercolor markers and misted it with water.  I then used it to stamp the background.  I colored the mouse and background with watercolor markers and added water with a paint brush.  I blurred the ink around the edges to make the mouse and kite pop.  I used a sentiment stamp from Paper Smooches.  I matted the image with a coordinated purple cardstock and placed it on a card base.  This is a cute card that doesn’t take a long time to make.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today.  Tune in tomorrow for more anything goes.

Have a great day and enjoy the journey.

Psalm 7:  14 – 17  Whoever is pregnant with evil conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusionment.  Whoever digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit they have made.  The trouble they cause recoils on them;  their violence comes down on their own heads.  I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness;  I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.

I Love You

This week’s theme is anything goes and love is at the top of the list.  A very nice guy at work wanted a card to let his bride know that he had missed her while she had been gone this week.  How sweet is that?  Her favorite color is coral and he wanted the sentiment to say ‘I love you’.

Here is what I created for his bride.

I love you

I love you

I used the same Altenew stamp set that I used to make the pink version of this card.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE this stamp set.  I now want all the Altenew layering stamp sets that they make.  I used Hero Arts inks in Fresh Peach, Orange Slice, Pale Tomato and Strawberry.  The leaves are done in Lime Green, Green Hills and Pine.  The enamel dots are from Doodlebug and the sentiment is from Fun Stampers Journey.

I love you

Congrats

I used a cut from the Silhouette Store to make a card for a friend who is going to a wedding shower this weekend.  The design is #118901 and is by Carina Gardner – Bouquet Folding Wedding Card.  I cut the flowers out in white and the bow out in pink.  I added pearls to the centers of the flowers and an enamel dot to the center of the pink bow.  The inside is stamped Congrats.

Psalm 7:  10 – 13  My shield is God Most High,  who saves the upright in heart.  God is a righteous judge, God who displays his wrath every day.  If he does not relent, he will sharpen his sword;
he will bend and string his bow.  He has prepared his deadly weapons;  he makes ready his flaming arrows.

Best Nurse Ever

This week’s theme is anything goes and I made a Best Nurse Ever card for the daughter of a friend who is attending school to become a nurse.  She wanted to send her some encouragement.

Best Nurse Ever

Keep Up the Good Work

I started with the Art Impressions stamp set from Michaels and I colored the images with Copics.  I used dies from My Favorite Things to cut out a frame.  I created my own sentiments and printed them on my printer.  I am really happy with the way the card turned out.

Psalm 7:  6 – 9  Arise, Lord, in your anger;  rise up against the rage of my enemies.  Awake, my God; decree justice.  Let the assembled peoples gather around you, while you sit enthroned over them on high.  Let the Lord judge the peoples.  Vindicate me, Lord, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High.  Bring to an end the violence of the wicked
and make the righteous secure— you, the righteous God who probes minds and hearts.

WOYWW 360 – 6 Inch Square

It’s Wednesday and that means I am taking a picture of my desk and sharing it on Julia’s The Stamping Ground.  You will notice I am working in a 6 inch square space again.

WOYWW 360

6 Inches Square

There is a lot going on at my desk.  I have lots of projects in the works and lots more to work on.  I actually have a spreadsheet.  As is the norm when I’m really busy I work myself into a small little work space.

I get to go on a world wide desk hop, but I have dog grooming tonight so I won’t be able to visit desks until tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Tune in tomorrow for some more blue.

Have a great day and enjoy the journey.

Psalm 7:  3 – 5  Lord my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands— if I have repaid my ally with evil or without cause have robbed my foe—then let my enemy pursue and overtake me;  let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust.

I’m Blue Da Ba Dee Da Ba Da

We are continuing with the anything goes theme this week and today I am blue.  Well, I was actually into blue this weekend.  I’m not really blue as in melancholy, but my color choice seems to be blue right now.  And I can’t help but think of the song I’m Blue da ba dee da ba da by Eiffel 65.  Now listen up here’s the story……  Anyhoo here is my blue card.  One of them.  I am saving more for later this week.

Blue Butterfly

Does anyone else watch Castle?  Did you hear Stana Katic was left out!  I am sad.  Anyway – if you are an avid Castle watcher you will know the significance of the Blue Butterfly.  But I digress.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Chipped Sapphire, Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean and Broken China to get the background effect.  The butterflies are from Hero Arts along with the matching dies.  The dies don’t cut in the middle so the butterfly wings lift off the background.  I stamped the butterflies in Versamark and then heat embossed them with white embossing powder.  I die cut the butterflies to make them pop off the card front.  I added water with my brush to give the background some interest – not that those gorgeous colors aren’t pretty enough.  The sentiment is from a My Favorite Things stamp set – Sunflower Sweetheart.  I put the card front on black card stock whose edge I die cut with a stitched cloud die from Lawn Fawn.  I added sequins from Doodlebug and there you have it.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today.  Tune in tomorrow for WOYWW.

Have a great day and enjoy the journey.

Psalm 7:  1 – 2 Lord my God, I take refuge in you;  save and deliver me from all who pursue me,
or they will tear me apart like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.

Poppy Gems for a Friend

This week’s theme is anything goes and I’ve been playing with my Penny Black Poppies Stamp – Poppy Gems.  I used a fun water color technique to create poppy gems for a friend.  I will share another technique later this week.

Poppies for a Friend

Happy Birthday

Poppies for a Friend

You Deserve the Best

On the first poppy image I used Tombow Markers to color the image.  I then misted the stamp with water and stamped on watercolor cardstock.  I added water to the center of each petal very lightly touching the outline causing the water to pull the color from the ink on the outline into the petal.  The ink will go where the water is.  I worked on every other petal so as not to pull too much color from the outline of the poppy or the leaves.  It is an easy technique, but takes patience.  The result is amazing.  The darker the ink color, the more vibrant your final result will be.  I am working on getting the video showing the technique loaded to youtube.com.  For the background I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in the color of Dried Marigold.

On the second card I used distress inks instead of Tombow Markers to color the image.  That is the only difference between the two.  I used a different color Distress Ink for the background on this card.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today.  Tune in tomorrow for some more surprises as the anything goes theme continues.

Have a great day and enjoy the journey.

Psalm 6:  8 – 10  Away from me, all you who do evil, for the Lord has heard my weeping.  The Lord has heard my cry for mercy;  the Lord accepts my prayer.  All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish;  they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.

It’s in the Bag

This week’s theme has been anything goes.  Dee has been obsessing over the little paper purses lately and put together her own purse project.  It’s in the bag.  🙂

It's In the Bag

The Purse

It's In the Bag

Happy Birthday

Even though she doesn’t have a die she decided to make this project.  She was kicking it old school with a folding technique.  She used cardstock and a few random dies from various sets. The Lawn Fawn Ready, set, snow was used for the handles, embossed with a croc folder then heat embossed black on black card for a patent leather look. The closure was cut from a Spellbinders vase die and embellished. Flat sided pearls used for the feet and a sticky embellishment the corners. Inside cut a square with MFT wonky stitch die with Happy Birthday cut from Elizabeth Craft with a few scattered bows from a Spellbinders die.

This is what can happen when you put your mind to something.  🙂  Thank you for stopping by the blog today.  Tune in tomorrow for some more fun.

Have a great day and enjoy the journey.

Psalm 6:  6 – 7  I am worn out from my groaning.  All night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.  My eyes grow weak with sorrow;  they fail because of all my foes.
