Something to Make You Smile

I first want to say that my heart goes out to all those affected by the tragedy in Las Vegas. I know people all over the US were somehow affected just by knowing someone who lost a family member or friend. I pray for healing.

I was just sitting watching reruns of Castle because it’s Monday and that’s what I do on Monday.  Well, that is after I went to Weight Watchers (gained :-() and ate dinner – Mexican – yummy.  On my list of things to do is ‘make smile cards’ for my October class and I was suddenly inspired.  Now keep in mind I have 2 design team cards due in the next two days, but what am I inspired to make – a Smile card.  What can I say – I work better under pressure – Something to Make You Smile.

This card came together very quickly.  Tim Holtz watercolor card stock, Tim Holtz Oxide Ink, Nuvo Embossing Powder, Versamark Ink, Doodlebug Enamel dots and coordinating card stock. Oh yeah and some water.  I stamped the sentiment with my MISTI, heat embossed with white embossing powder by Nuvo.  Tim Holtz Oxide Ink in Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean and Wilted Violet were swiped on the card stock over the embossed image.  Water was added with a brush to smooth out the color.  Ink was then heat set.  Enamel dots and coordinating card stock topped off the card.

Tune in tomorrow for WOYWW which just might have a craft room tour of my craft room annex and my craft room.  Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.

Halloween Home

At Creativation in January we ran across a vendor with wood products.  I was intrigued by the word HOME in wood where the O was switched out for different pieces relating to the current holiday or celebration each month.  Craft Inn ordered it and I have been teaching the class this year.  This month is Halloween of course so here is Halloween Home.

This project was pretty quick.  Using black acrylic paint, I painted the witch hat after I had traced my patterned paper.  All the pieces were done in black except for the buckle which was painted purple.  Once the paint dried, I attached the pattern paper to the front of the witch hat with Nuvo glue.  Googly eyes were a must for the spider.  See – pretty quick.

Fantastic as a Hole in One

So I told you yesterday that my friend had requested 2 cards.  The first one featured big bear hugs.  Today’s features the recipient’s favorite sport – golf.  Here is Fantastic as a Hole in One.

The Cricut subscription is a great thing for me.  Yesterday’s bear and today’s golf card were made using images from my Cricut Subscription.  Plaid paper from Lawn Fawn seemed like an appropriate accessory since I’ve heard it is a requirement to wear plaid when golfing.  My Favorite Things Big Birthday Wishes provided the sentiment.

Bazzill textured card stock was used to cut out the golf ball.  It’s not exactly the same as a golf ball, but it added some texture.

Just like yesterday, I used Word and a cute font to create the sentiment inside the card.  Veletta was happy with yesterday’s card and today’s card because there was ‘stuff’ inside.  🙂

Luke 9:  54  When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them[b]?”

Big Bear Hugs

I had a request for some birthday cards from a friend at work.  If you follow my blog regularly you know that I love request because it challenges me to get out of my comfort zone.  These are definitely different that my usual cards which is a good thing.  🙂

The request was for 2 cards for a friend’s nephew who lives in Colorado.  The importance of Colorado is that they will be mailed.  This can be important when making cards because I don’t want to have too much bulk when they will be going through the mail.

Her nephew likes golf, bears and bourbon.  As you might have guessed from the post title – this is going to be the bear card.

Big Bear Hugs for Your Birthday

The first thing I did was find a bear image using my Cricut Subscription.  I actually chose 2 bears.  This one I thought was so cute and had to have it.  The other bear was a teddy bear from the teddy bear cartridge that has the different outfits which I own.  There is a teddy bear with a golf club.  He is cut out – I just need to put him on a card.  I chose this bear because my friend’s nephew is a young adult and I thought the teddy bear might look too juvenile for a guy.

The background was sitting on my craft desk.  A fellow instructor at Craft Inn had done a background using the Nuvo Watercolor Markers and I was playing around copying what Lissa had done.  I knew I wanted birch trees in the background but couldn’t find my metal birch tree die.  I know I have one.  At least I thought I had one.  Back to my Cricut Design Space – no birch trees like I wanted.  On to Etsy where I found a really cute set of SVG’s with different birch trees.  Have I said I LOVE my Cricut Explore?  The splatter in the night sky is a result of water mixed with Perfect Pearls and flicking a paint brush.  Clever – huh.  Not my idea – I stole from someone on the internet.

The sentiment on the inside and outside are a result of cheating.  Found this really cute font in Word – I hope I can find it again.  Typed out the sentiment that you see on the front of the card and the inside of the card.  Card stock for the inside was trimmed.  I cut out the sentiment using a My Favorite Things stitched banner die for the outside.

A Charmed Life – Creative Knockouts

It is Thursday and that means a new challenge on the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week’s sponsor is Polkadoodles Crafting and if you enter the A Charmed Life Challenge, you have the chance to win 3 free images.

I used the Pre-coloured Mermaid to make my shaker card.

This cute image was brought into the Silhouette Studio Software so that I could use the print and cut feature in the software.  Using my Kodak printer, I printed the image and then cut it out on my Silhouette Cameo.  I duplicated the image and and flipped the duplicate horizontally.  This allowed me to put an image on the outside of the card and on the inside of the card to cover up the back of the mermaid.  The window if a die cut from My Favorite Things.  Starfish charm was in my stash.  Shake Shake Shake.  Sequins are from Hero Arts.

Celebrate Fall

Fall Colors 4 Kids Card Recipe

Lawn Fawn has the cutest set of stitched leaves dies that I come back to every year during the fall.  And this year felt popped into my head so I cut these adorable leaves in felt.  I used Tim Holtz Oxide Distress Ink to create the background.  Celebrate is from last month’s My Favorite Things Release.  The teeny tiny itsy bitsy word fall came from a Lawn Fawn Stamp set.  It was the only stamp I could find with the word fall.  I stacked several layers of the celebrate on top of each other to give dimension  Mat is in yellow cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Consider entering the SAS4Kids challenge and sending cards to bring a smile to a child in the hospital.

Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.
