So normally when you see a blog post the cards are perfect. Just the right coloring. Just the right layout for the image. The perfect sentiment. This is because a blogger wants to share their successes. I am about to break the rules because I’ve gone too far. You know when you just keep doing stuff to your project and you end up ruining it? That is exactly what I did. And I am going to share it with you.
This week I am using the same stamp and coloring it at lease 4 different ways. This Timeless Tulips image from Mama Elephant was colored with Chameleon pencils. Truth be told this is my least favorite of the 4 images I’ve colored so far. That might be why I was willing to risk it and going too far.
Gone Too Far Card Recipe
I stamped out the Timeless Tulips from Mama Elephant using My Favorite Things Black ink. And then I colored the image with Chameleon Pencils. Yep – that’s it. I used my trimmer to cut the edge off the image and then fussy cut the tulip and leaf. Found a coordinating piece of purple Bazzil bling card stock for the background. Then inked the edge of the white card stock with Tim Holtz Hickory Smoke Distress ink. And that’s when I took it too far. I even tested my theory on a piece of card stock. Yep and I still used it around the tulips. I started and stopped. Then I used a light gray Tombow marker around the edge of the image to try and save it. And that’s when it happened. I took the gray Distress Ink all around the image. I was hoping it would grow on me. It hasn’t. I added enamel dots. Still no help. I will probably end up cutting out the tulips and placing the image on a different card base.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today. Tune in tomorrow for what will hopefully be a card I am pleased with.
Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.
