Get Your Happy On

I have been stalking Jennifer McGuire and saw this video on how to get the look of three dimensional sentiments with Faux Shadow Stamping using Versamark Ink and embossing powder.  I decided I wanted to try this technique.  I have been stalking Jennifer’s youtube a lot lately and have been trying the techniques she has been sharing.  This was one of the techniques that was easy to mimic.  Some of them require some practice and I will be sharing my trial and error using those techniques.

Get Your Happy On Card Recipe

Does the background look familiar?  It should because it is the same background as Sunday’s card.  I created 4 of these backgrounds at a time using my Silhouette Cameo.  I used a Nuvo medium tip glue pen to adhere the layers of this background together and I am very disappointed as the layers are separating.  For the sentiment I stamped ‘Get Your Happy On’ using a stamp from Concord and 9th called Fill in Phrases.  Following Jennifer McGuire’s tutorial I stamped the sentiment in Versamark Ink and heat set with dark purple embossing powder.  My purple embossing powder smelled like grapes – yum.  Once that was cool, I positioned my stamp over the heat embossed sentiment and just moved it over a little bit and stamped again with Versamark Ink.  This time I heat embossed with a light purple embossing powder from Zing.  Because the second stamped sentiment was slightly offset I get the look of a shadow and it looks puffy.  I trimmed the paper and inked the edged of the purple paper with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide ink in Wilted Violet.  I smudged it around the paper a little as well.  The sentiment was matted in a darker purple and popped up on the background using foam tape.  A must have – glittery purple dots were added to the sentiment.

I am absolutely loving these backgrounds and have more ideas for creating cards using them.

Luke 6:  27 – 31  “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.  If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them.  Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.  Do to others as you would have them do to you.
