What’s the Word Bird

Hi all and Happy St. Patrick’s Day.  Now you would think that I would have a St. Patrick’s Day card wouldn’t you?  Well you would be mistaken.  It was on my list of things to do, but it just never made it to the top of the list.  Instead I have a fun card for a co-worker’s birthday using a layering stamp from Hero Arts.

What’s the Word Bird Card Recipe

The first thing I did was stamp the cardinal.  I should have put the first layer in orange, but I didn’t so his beak is red.  It’s art so it’s all subjective.  I fussy cut the cardinal.  For the background I used Tim Holtz’s new oxide ink for the sky in the background.  The branches and leaves are also part of the cardinal set.  Versamark Ink and embossing powder were used to add those elements.  ‘What’s the Word Bird’ sentiment is from another Hero Arts layering bird set.  Of course I have the die for that set, but needed the die for the cardinal.  No biggie – fussy cutting wasn’t that bad.  I didn’t include the inside, but it says Happy Birthday.
